Three days to go...

Today is washing day, taking advantage of the bright sunshine and a light breeze. These last few days are strange, poised, surreal, grounding. Mentally and emotionally I feel prepared, I have faced enough demons in my life to be able to keep a relatively balanced perspective. My body speaks another language, there's a nervousness and slight sick feeling that comes and goes and sometimes my appetite is lost.

Last night I started to make a passage plan to get us from Plymouth to Cape Verde, via Madeira. It's about 2000 miles and should take about three weeks. Sitting down at the table with charts and dividers and a notepad felt very grounding. The weather looks promising for the Bay of Biscay.

Gas fitter coming tomorrow to plumb in my stove safely. Gone are the days when I would have made a lash up, in an old van we lived in and went to France, back in the early nineties. When did I get so sensible? Still a big list to work through, more stuff to load, another visit to the metropolis. Making our way to the start line.
